Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s food police have struck again!
Outlawed are food donations to homeless shelters because the city can’t assess their salt, fat and fiber content, reports CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer.
Glenn Richter arrived at a West Side synagogue on Monday to collect surplus bagels — fresh nutritious bagels — to donate to the poor. However, under a new edict from Bloomberg’s food police he can no longer donate the food to city homeless shelters.
It’s the “no bagels for you” edict.
Obscene. There is no other word for this.
What the fuck, food is food, there was a time in my life where if I hadn’t gotten food donations I would have fucking STARVED. food is food when you’re hungry, I can’t believe I’m reading this, this has to be a joke.
And no one has noticed because tourists are constantly looking at it.
Oh well that’s cool I need to have some new nightmares
This is amazing.
Even if Geraldo Rivera was at the Zuccotti Park yesterday, Fox News has generally been a tad dismissive of the Occupy Wall Street movement… Bill O’Reilly sent a producer minion out with the same mission: to belittle OWS’s cause by cutting up interviews to make people sound stupid. Well, here is an interview that Fox News filmed, but doesn’t want you to see. The segment was shot on Wednesday for Greta van Susteren’s show… The speaker giving Fox News the business is Jesse LaGreca, a vocal member of the Occupy Wall Street protests. This video comes courtesy of Kyle Christopher from OccupyWallSt.org’s media team.
I keep watching this over and over because it’s fantastic to see this Fox News peon getting completely destroyed.
I just gotta have this on my blog again because Fuck Yeah Jesse LaGreca.
Up until this announcement, the Occupy Wall Street movement has been unwieldy and somewhat lacking in a coherent voice, but that’s all about the change. New York City labor unions have decided to descend upon the streets of Lower Manhattan on Friday.
The leadership of the Transit Workers Union Local 100—comprised of subway and bus workers—voted unanimously to support the protestors. With a membership of 38,000, 5 Oct. will easily be the largest day yet in the protest. On 12 Oct., SEIU 32BJ, representing doormen, security guards, and maintenance workers around the city, is also staging a rally in support of the cause.
It’s unclear for now whether the transit system will be completely shut down while the 38,000 workers are participating in the protest. If it is, the Occupy Wall Street movement will definitely make its mark in history. And either way, it now has a substantial footing to make a real statement about American economy policy.
Jackie DiSalvo, an #OccupyWallStreet organizer, summarized the movement’s policy as such: “Occupy Wall Street will not negotiate watering down its own message.”
You have no idea how excited I am to see this.
My name is Kelly Schomburg, I’m the girl with the red hair in these pictures. I was protesting at the Occupy Wall Street march yesterday when I and several other women were sprayed with mace and subsequently arrested. Many have already seen the video, which has been spreading like wildfire over twitter, Facebook, tumblr, and other video feeds, along with hundreds of other photos and videos. This is my recount of what happened.

Atheists ask judge to order removal of 9/11 memorial cross
Beam found amid 9/11 wreckage blessed by priest and moved to Ground Zero memorial, which atheists say should remain neutralA US atheist group has filed a lawsuit asking a judge to order the removal of a cross-shaped steel beam at the 9/11 memorial in New York or request that other religions and nonreligious views be equally represented.
The cross was found amid the wreckage from the terrorist attacks by a construction worker who said he stumbled onto a miracle. It was last weekend moved to the Ground Zero memorial – due to open on the 10th anniversary of the attacks in September – after a blessing by a Catholic priest. It is to become part of the permanent collection of a 9/11 museum opening next year.
Dave Silverman, president of American Atheists, the group which filed the lawsuit, said its main concern was equality.
He said 9/11 was an American tragedy, “but the Christian community has secured sole representation in the memorial for itself at the exclusion of other religions and philosophies.”
No surprise here - but what a fucking disgrace. This really goes to show how fucked up religion is. 9/11 was a global tragedy and yet Christians have firmly planted their foot at the new build site… it’s typical - they don’t care to acknowledge the other religions that lost members, and fuck, there’s no way they’d acknowledge any atheists that may have lost their lives.
The important thing is, of course, is that we remember the Christians who died.
“Oooh, I found a CROSS in the wreckage, it’s obviously a symbol from JEEEBUS”
Yeah, what’re the odds that a fucking crossbeam is found in the wreckage of a FREAKIN SKYSCRAPER. WHAT A HOLY MIRACLE. MAN AM I CONVINCED.
These are the same people who were shitting their panties because a Muslim community center was going to go in a building a frikkin block away.
Unbelievable. And they think they aren’t doing anything wrong. Christian fucking privilege like a boss.
