Komen’s Race Is For Money, Not Cure - Outrageous salaries, drug company ties, and less than a dime of every dollar looks for a cure.

abaldwin360:

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a multimillion-dollar company with assets totaling over $390 million. Only 20.9% of these funds were reportedly used in the 2009-2010 fiscal year for research “for the cure.” Where does the rest of the money go? Let’s have a look. Health screening is 13.0%. Treatment is 5.6%. Fundraising is 10.0%. The largest chunk of the pie is going toward “public health education,” 39.1%. More on that later, but for now I’d like to take a look at the millions, or 11.3%, spent on “administrative costs.”

John Hammergren, CEO of health care McKesson Corp., made $46 million last year, & that’s not including the many & lavish perks

abaldwin360:

by DASHIELL BENNETT | The Atlantic Wire

John Hammergren, the CEO of health-care giant McKesson Corp., made $46 million last year thanks to one of the most generous executive pay packages in his, or any other business. Gary Rivlin of The Daily Beast has a breakdown of some of the outrageous provisions that contribute to Hammergren’s outrageous wealth including some figures that at least one compensation consultant calls “excessive.” When someone whose job is to craft multi-million dollar pay packages for corporate CEOs thinks you’re overpaid, you’re probably overpaid.

Hammergren is not the richest or even the highest-paid CEO in the world, but the structure of his compensation is raising eyebrows even in the already outsized world of the 1%. He took over McKesson, a firm that specializes in supplying presrciption drugs to pharmacies, in 1999 after a fraud scandal took out of many of the company’s top executives. Since that time he’s been paid nearly $500 million as the CEO and Chairman of the Board.

HIPSTER LINCOLN

… lets just talk about this for a god damn second. This photo here is a classic example of how the education system of America has fucking failed us. While Lincoln may have signed the Emancipation Proclamation, he did not give a fuck about black people (just like George Bush… good call Kanye)
His official statement regarding it was: ” I will say, then, that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races… I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race>”
Also, same day he signed the Emancipation Proclamation, he hung 200 Native Americans.
…. how’s that for your historical “anti-racist”?

The comment above. Yes, that.
While I thought the image was a bit funny when I originally saw it, I also knew it left things out.
Now, Mark Twain — in his day — said the way women and blacks were treated was wrong.
I can’t imagine going with the status quo. If I lived any time during slavery, I would have been an abolitionist. If I lived in the 1960’s, I would have been protesting for civil rights. I honestly can’t respect someone very much who didn’t (maybe…unless they were too young to understand what was going on).
And also, that stuff about Lincoln being a republican… The parties switched soon after. Republican used to be the “progressive” party.

This.
History people, learn it.
It is not always what they teach you in the schools.

So be Patriotic. Go out there and get rich. Get so obnoxiously rich that when that tax bill comes , your first thought will be to choke on how big a check you have to write. Your 2nd thought will be “what a great problem to have”, and your 3rd should be a recognition that in paying your taxes you are helping to support millions of Americans that are not as fortunate as you.
