How did your brain even learn human speech? I'm just so curious.

Pick 10 artists that you love before reading the questions

Imma keep it old school tonight (since I am anyway) so these are all bands that I liked at least 15-20 years ago that I still like now.  Trust me it is easier this way.

  1. The Cure
  2. Bauhaus
  3. Echo and the Bunnymen
  4. Siouxsie and the Banshees
  5. The Smiths
  6. Pixies
  7. Joy Division
  8. David Bowie
  9. R.E.M.
  10. Suede

What was the first song you ever heard by 6?
Oh dang, I honestly don’t remember.  I want to say it was “Monkey Gone To Heaven.”  Pretty sure it was that.

What is your favorite song of 8?

That is very hard to pick, as Bowie is legend, as is his discography.  I will close my eyes and point and go wiiiithhh… “Breaking Glass.” It’s short and dark and fabulous and perfect.  Also it is from my favorite Bowie album, Low, which is pretty much one of the most perfect albums ever recorded, ever.

What kind of impact has 1 left on your life?
Well, I mean… they’re The Cure.  If you have to ask you’ll never know.  Also they were one of the first bands I started listening to when I was a teenager that were somewhat underground and different and not like all of the other boring trite stuff.

What are your favorite lyrics of 5?
Oh there’s only one answer to this question:

I wear black on the outside cause black is how I feel on the inside…

How many times have you seen 4 live?
Never had the chance, and likely not ever going to.  *sad face* *a single tear*

What is your favorite song by 7?
“Atmosphere.”

Is there any song by 3 that makes you sad?
Oh man.  “Ocean Rain” really gets me, but it’s kind of a good sad.  Or a good kind of sad.  You know.

What is your favourite song by 9?

Hum, this is kind of a hard choice!  I think “Cuyahoga” is my default answer for this question.

When did you first get into 2?
I heard “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” and that was it, really.

How did you get into 3?
I bought a random compilation tape in a dollar bin somewhere and “Ocean Rain” was on it.  It was actually a pretty awesome tape, now that I remember!

What is your favourite song by 4?
“Monitor.”

How many times have you seen 9 live?

Three; for the Monster tour in ‘95, the Up tour in ‘99 and when they were touring on whatever album they put out after Up, I don’t even remember the album or what year it was… good show though, it was just supporting this really forgettable album. I wish I’d seen them one more time before they broke up, though.  They are one of the bands I will break my “no amphitheaters” rule for.  Even when I didn’t care for the albums they had out, they still always did an amazing live show.  R.E.M. has the amazing power of being able to make even an amphitheater feel like a small club packed with people who are there to dance and drink.

What is a good memory concerning 10?
There was a time in my life when my copy of their s/t album literally did not leave my walkman for almost a year.

Is there a song by 8 that makes you sad?
You know it’s strange that I can’t think of one?  I mean I know that Bowie had made sad songs, because he has made all of the songs that the young girls sing.  I did always think  there was sort of a beautiful melancholy involved in “Subterraneans” but I dunno that it makes me feel particularly sad, really.  But I’m a freak who likes sad music, so.

What is your favourite song by 1?
In Between Days.”  It has a lot of personal meaning to me.  As a person.
