Michelle Bachmann withholding payments from campaign workers for disgusting reason

Over a year after she dropped out, Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann has refused to pay five staffers from her failed presidential bid, according to a former top campaign official. Peter Waldron, her controversial former national field coordinator, told Salon the dispute started when former Iowa straw poll staffers refused to sign a nondisclosure agreement that would bar them from discussing any “unethical, immoral, or criminal activity” they witnessed on the campaign with police or reporters.

Waldron said the staffers are owed a mere $5,000, and that Bachmann has more than $2 million in her campaign account, but has refused to pay unless the staffers sign the agreement.

New Hampshire Sheriff Candidate Says He’s Willing to Use Deadly Force to Stop Abortions

bebinn:

Republican candidate for Hillsborough County Sheriff, Frank Szabo, said today that he would arrest any doctor performing elective abortions in his jurisdiction. Further, he wouldn’t be opposed to using deadly force:

“I would respond specifically by saying that if someone is under threat, a full-grown human being, if they’re under threat, what should the sheriff do? Everything in their power to prevent them from being harmed,” he said.

When pressed about what he would do if he learned that a doctor was about to perform an elective abortion, Szabo replied he would do what it took to prevent that from happening.

“Absolutely,” he said. “Well, I would hope that it wouldn’t come to that, as with any situation where someone is in danger, but again, specifically talking about elective abortions and late-term abortions, that is an act that needs to be stopped.”

Even if the abortion was legal in the state of New Hampshire, Szabo says that as sheriff, he would not need to answer to any higher authority or public official.

While Szabo has no law enforcement background, he claims his business experience qualifies him for the job.

Are lots of fetuses making 911 calls these days?

I mean, I knew cell phone owning kids were getting younger and younger, but GEEZ.

Love,

Rabble

How precisely does one go about arresting someone who isn’t doing anything illegal?

He doesn’t intend to arrest them. He intends to shoot them in the head under the guise of “deadly force” because they are a threat to fetuses.

You can’t arrest someone if you kill them.

I just want to reiterate something that I did not put in my original reblog: This guy is a terrorist and he is running for a position in which he would be given weapons and the authority to use them.

This man is a terrorist. His goal is to scare and threaten abortion providers up to the point of killing them in order to stop them from providing abortions.

He is a terrorist.

Conservative Perspective: Sooooooo fucking tired of killjoy atheist groups.

During the 9/11 search and rescue and recovery, two beams that were found were connected in the form of a cross. It became a symbol of hope (just like the flag that stood in the rubble) for the rescuers.

It is now on display in the 9/11 memorial with other artifacts.

Buuuuut…….one of those…

FUck, I just hate all these atheists coming in with their Constitution and their ideals upon which the country was founded and their understanding of how secular principals in government is actually beneficial for all religions because they’re just really draggin me down. I can’t fucking believe they’re making me confront my illusions by forcing me to acknowledge that not every single person in America believes in the particularly narrow vision of God that I do. It’s so unfair! Why can’t I just go on marginalizing everyone who is not exactly like me and, at the same time, using their tax dollars to actively promote my religious superstitions!? WAH!

Oh and a cross-shaped piece of metal being found in the rubble of destroyed buildings?  What’re the chances of THAT happening? WHAT A MIRACLE.

Bob Dold Introduces Bill To Protect Planned Parenthood Funding

Freshman Rep. Bob Dold (R-Ill.) on Wednesday introduced H.R. 5650, the Protecting Women’s Access to Health Care Act, which prevents lawmakers from blocking Title X family planning funds to Planned Parenthood because some of its clinics provide abortions.

“Specifically, this legislation says that when it comes to participation in the Title X program, health care providers such as hospitals and health care clinics, including Planned Parenthood, cannot be discriminated against and excluded simply because they choose to offer additional services, separate from Title X,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

If you want to send Rep. Dole (R!!!) your thanks, you can do so here. As a freshman congressman, he likely doesn’t have much power in Congress, and he won’t be getting much support from his fellow Republicans. Still, any pushback against the anti-reproductive rights trend in politics is greatly appreciated.

If more republicans were like this man, congress would probably be able to get some stuff done. Be sure to encourage and thank him for this.

Love,

Rabble

They’re trying to get it classified as such.  Don’t think that shit isn’t next.  We said they’d be coming after birth control next, and gotdamn if they aren’t.  They’re already trying to make you into a murderer if your flawed, weak SINFUL parts reject God’s magical blessing of a clump of cells on your uterine wall.  They’d charge us fines for having our PERIODS if they could get away with it.

Breaking: Democratic Women Boycott House Contraception Hearing After Republicans Prevent Women From Testifying

atheismfuckyeah:

This morning, Democrats tore into House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) for preventing women and minorities from testifying before a hearing examining the Obama administration’s new regulation requiring employers and insurers to provide contraception coverage to their employees. Republicans oppose the administration’s rule and have sponsored legislation that would allow employers to limit the availability of birth control to women.

Ranking committee member Elijah Cummings (D-MD) had asked Issa to include a female witness at the hearing, but the Chairman refused, arguing that “As the hearing is not about reproductive rights and contraception but instead about the Administration’s actions as they relate to freedom of religion and conscience, he believes that Ms. Fluke is not an appropriate witness.”

And so Cummings, along with the Democratic women on the panel, took their request to the hearing room, demanding that Issa consider the testimony of a female college student. But the California congressman insisted that the hearing should focus on the rules’ alleged infringement on “religious liberty,” not contraception coverage, and denied the request. Reps. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) walked out of the hearing in protest of his decision, citing frustration over the fact that the first panel of witnesses consisted only of male religious leaders against the rule. Holmes Norton said she will not return, calling Issa’s chairmanship an “autocratic regime.”

I’ve bolded the part I thought needed the most attention.

You know what that statement says? That says that women shouldn’t be allowed to talk ever, the men are being important and making important decisions, so the women should shut up and just take it.

IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW MUCH THESE PEOPLE TALK ABUOT IT BEING A RELIGIOUS FREEDOM/RIGHTS MATTER, THAT’S BULLSHIT - BECAUSE GUESS THE FUCK WHAT? IT IS A CONTRACEPTIVE, REPRODUCTIVE AND SEXUAL AUTONOMY MATTER.

THE EMPLOYEES WHO HAPPEN TO HAVE WOMBS ARE GOING TO BE AFFECTED BY THIS DECISION. THE EMPLOYEES WHO HAPPEN TO BE ABLE TO GET PREGNANT WILL BE AFFECTED BY THIS.

AND LOOK WHO’S ON THIS PANEL. OLD, WHITE, CIS-MEN OF A RELIGIOUS CONSERVATIVE BENT.

TELL ME THESE OLD, WHITE, CONSERVATIVE, RELIGIOUS CIS-MEN AREN’T JUST SCARED OF WOMEN HAVING CONTROL OF THEIR OWN BODIES.

GO ON. TELL ME THAT. WITH A STRAIGHT FACE AND NO SNIGGERING.

Fuck the Republicans.

Sometimes I am so grateful to be British. I get to actually have control over my womb here.

This literally made me sick.

The right to… not be grossed out by gay people? What right was stripped away? Seriously, somebody explain to me how a law that allows people to get married “strips away” rights from others.

Oh, hello there Rick Santorum. Did you read the decision? You might be interested:
Proposition 8 worked a singular and limited change to the California Constitution: it stripped same-sex couples of the right to have their committed relationships recognized by the State with the designation of ‘marriage,’ which the state constitution had previously guaranteed them, while leaving in place all of their other rights and responsibilities as partners—rights and responsibilities that are identical to those of married spouses and form an integral part of the marriage relationship…
By using their initiative power to target a minority group and withdraw a right that it possessed, without a legitimate reason for doing so, the People of California violated the Equal Protection Clause. We hold Proposition 8 to be unconstitutional on this ground. We do not doubt the importance of the more general questions presented to us concerning the rights of same-sex couples to marry, nor do we doubt that these questions will likely be resolved in other states, and for the nation as a whole, by other courts. For now, it suffices to conclude that the People of California may not, consistent with the Federal Constitution, add to their state constitution a provision that has no more practical effect than to strip gays and lesbians of their right to use the official designation that the State and society give to committed relationships, thereby adversely affecting the status and dignity of the members of a disfavored class. The judgment of the district court is
AFFIRMED

Sounds like some people got their rights stripped, and it wasn’t the people who voted for Prop(H)8. But I can see how you’d get confused, Rick. With your head so far up your own ass, I bet your view of the world around you is rather limited.

And shit like this is why I have a visceral reaction to Christian privilege.
