Conservative Perspective: Sooooooo fucking tired of killjoy atheist groups.

During the 9/11 search and rescue and recovery, two beams that were found were connected in the form of a cross. It became a symbol of hope (just like the flag that stood in the rubble) for the rescuers.

It is now on display in the 9/11 memorial with other artifacts.

Buuuuut…….one of those…

FUck, I just hate all these atheists coming in with their Constitution and their ideals upon which the country was founded and their understanding of how secular principals in government is actually beneficial for all religions because they’re just really draggin me down. I can’t fucking believe they’re making me confront my illusions by forcing me to acknowledge that not every single person in America believes in the particularly narrow vision of God that I do. It’s so unfair! Why can’t I just go on marginalizing everyone who is not exactly like me and, at the same time, using their tax dollars to actively promote my religious superstitions!? WAH!

Oh and a cross-shaped piece of metal being found in the rubble of destroyed buildings?  What’re the chances of THAT happening? WHAT A MIRACLE.

From LifeSiteNews.com:
COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 12, 2012 – Seminarians from the only Pontifical College in the U.S. have an awe-inspiring approach for confronting abortion head-on. Dressed in full regalia of a black cassock, a traditional red sash, and armed with a rosary, the seminarians descend in a powerful show of force every Saturday on a local abortion facility to confront with prayer what the seminary’s rector calls the “poison of abortion.”
Father James Wehner, rector of the Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, says he believes that seminarians need to “see visibly the forces of evil at work, and respond with an act of faith in which prayer becomes the greater force.”
“American culture is a blessing, but it is also poisoned,” he said. “The clergy, particularly priests, need to be able to confront that poison, not run away and hide from it. That means we have to confront it head-on.”

Imagine if they spent every Saturday running a free child care facility, or volunteering at a women’s shelter, or spending time with kids in the foster care system. Imagine if they stood like this outside their congressional rep’s office, demanding accountability for childhood disease and poverty. Imagine if they cared about people who were already born, instead of being judgmental of people exercising their legal and medical right.

The Bible: How it Came to Be
One reason some may question the divinity of the Bible is the process by which it was created—seems a little sloppy for a god. One must wonder why a god’s publishing skills are limited to the skills of ancient man. Let’s take a look at how the Bible came to be. Below is a summed up version of the process highlighting the key steps.
1. The ancients share mythological stories.
2. Some people claim a god told them to tell stories that are coincidentally plagiarized versions of the ancients’ stories.
3. These stories are circulated by word of mouth in a massive game of telephone.
4. Later some scribes try to write down the hearsay version to the best their memory can recollect, sometimes centuries after the story originated.
5. The scriptures are then copied by hand, letter by letter, one word at a time. This was a very slow and painstaking process that led to many mistakes. Many changes were made in the copies by accident and carelessness, or they were intentionally altered.
6. Some scriptures are selected for the Torah.
7-11. For the New Testament, repeat steps 1-5.
12. Bible—First Edition: An edited version of the Jewish texts along with a handful of select newer scriptures are slapped together.
13. This new book was also copied by hand, letter by letter. Huge problem, the New Testament was in Greek with NO punctuation. Example: “Godisnowhere” could be “God is now here” or “God is nowhere.” This left room for far more errors.
14. Hundreds of different versions of Christianity and Jesus are worshipped throughout the land. In some Jesus was an angel or a man adopted by a god.
15. Some political leaders vote on what texts they want added and removed, and then destroy all previous versions of the Bible through massacres and book burnings.
16. This new version of the Bible is yet again copied by hand with many more additional errors and changes made when copied.
17. 15th Century: Invention of the Gutenberg printing press ends changes during copying.
18. 19th Century: Robert I Estienne of Paris organizes Bible into chapters and verses.
19. No one can agree on the Bible’s translations, so various versions are created.
20. The Bible as we know it today FINALLY makes it into hotel rooms.
Even after all this, people still can’t even agree on the meaning of the Bible, so various divisions of Christianity have been created.
If the Bible really was the important word of an all-powerful god, then it would only have taken one step to create. Do you really think a book is more challenging to create than an entire planet? The Christian God supposedly wrote down the Ten Commandments with just one finger; why not finish the rest of the book?
He could have at least put a “God seal of approval” on the scriptures he inspired so we would have some way to sort out false prophets.
Even if modern man made a Bible, it would only need one person and three steps: type, print, distribute. Is modern man more capable of creating a book that the Christian God?

TW: Sexual Abuse, Child Abuse, Victim Shaming - Catholic League to Victims: Stop Being Crybabies

nonplussedbyreligion:

I’ll just forewarn you that my vocabulary will not be the cleanest in this post.  It is no secret that any form of abuse, but especially abuse done to children are huge anger triggers for me.  Not wanting to be accused of making this shit up, or not being able to find it when and if they take it down, I’ve added a screen shots.  The actual page is here. The first shot is of their Catholic League’s homepage.  The second is what comes up when you click the read more link.  The texts reads:

BOSTON VICTIMS’ SUMMIT BOMBS

Over the weekend, lawyers, columnists, reporters, psychiatrists, and activists attended the “10th Anniversary Celebration & Conference” in Boston; it marked the 10th anniversary of media reports on the Boston clergy sexual abuse scandal.

Commenting on the outcome is Catholic League president Bill Donohue:

A whopping 75 people turned out for the conference, 25 of whom were the speakers. How embarrassing. It’s clear that the professional victims’ lobby is spent. Everyone else has moved on, but those who have an ideological, emotional or financial interest in continuing this saga cannot let go. What a pitiful bunch of malcontents.

This a good sign. Catholics are talking about the announcement that Archbishop Timothy Dolan and Archbishop Edwin O’Brien will become Cardinal Dolan and Cardinal O’Brien next month—they’re not interested in wallowing in negativity.

It’s a well known fact that I despise Bill Donohue, but even for him this is incredibly fucking low.  To rejoice in the fact that the turn out to a victim’s conference was “embarrassing” and call those involved a “pitiful bunch”  is something I didn’t even expect from him.  The image of a crying baby, and the blatant no cry babies meaning of the pictures accompanying this article has moved me to anger.  This is continued victimization of every single person who has been sexually assaulted by a member of the Catholic Church.  Anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse period.  This is demoralizing intellectually and psychologically.  This is what it looks like when the biggest Church in the world takes a stand on who they think is really at fault for their image problems.  Of course I’m going to hear that my statements are big generalizations, but if and when the Pope speaks out against this, I may consider apologizing.  Until then, as far as I see it, the entire Church supports this shit.

Let’s examine the reason for this conference needing to be held at all shall we.  Adult men, representing the Catholic Church in a role of authority, used that power and trust to commit sexual crimes against others, mostly minors.  The failure of victims and their family to PUBLICLY show up to this conference should not need to be explained.  Why would people want to continue the subject themselves to the very institution that was the source of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse?  Bill Donohue is a fucking reprehensible piece of shit.  Everyone who has been sexually abused has an “emotional” interest in seeing that Priests stop molesting children, and that those who did receive just punishment.   However, not everyone wants to stand up in front of assholes like Donohue, and have to explain to him why it’s not ok to simply re-assign, or never talk about the people that carried out the abuse.  Fully realizing that people like him will continue to blame the victim for the shame brought upon the Catholic Church, people are trying their best to move on with their lives and not live as victims.

So while Donohue is showing his hate filled ass by proudly pointing out that Catholics have moved on to happier things, victims of the Church are trying to do the same.  No they are not “wallowing in negativity.”  They have wisely chosen to stay away from assholes like you and the negativity you spew.  Un-FUCKING-believable.  This was an angry blog, not editing so apologizing for typos in advance.~ Kim

Another Child Dead Thanks to a Failed "Faith-Healing"

thebellsareturnedtotears:

I am so fucking tired of having to read stories like this…Prayer isn’t going to do shit. Stop wasting your time and actually do something about it.

You can believe in a magical sky fairy, I really don’t care. But when your silly beliefs start putting people…childrennew. born. children. in danger? When they result in someone’s preventable death? Fuck you.

Feel free to throw up a little…I know I did.

The punishment isn’t nearly enough.  I hate to think of them ever having any other children.  They shouldn’t be allowed.
