How did your brain even learn human speech? I'm just so curious.

religiousragings:

Is there a spirit animal representing a pizza?  That would be my spirit animal.

Yeah except for referring to something as your “spirit animal”, even as a joke, is actually pretty much cultural appropriation and racism towards Native people.  I’m not saying he intentionally set out to be racist, nor am I saying that religiousragings is racist for posting it, but it doesn’t change the fact that referring to something as your spirit animal is in fact racist and not cool.
Referring to something as your patronus or your daemon or familiar is okay; it’s not appropriating Native culture because it’s a fictional thing.  (And someone correct me if I’m wrong on this last one because I’m unsure of the origins of the term “familiar”.)  Regardless of whether you believe in stuff like that or not, you have to respect that the culture it comes from has been and is continuing to be exploited and destroyed.  And shit like this is part of what exploits and demeans and destroys it.
So yeah.  Attempting to collect my folks.  Have a seat and familiarize yourself with Harry Potter and His Dark Materials and stop appropriating things from cultures that you have helped destroy, k?  Kk.
