Evolution may just be a theory, but your creation myth is just a hypothesis.
the amount of arguments I have had with religious people about the very basics of scientific thinking- they just don’t get it
I had a conversation with an (otherwise pleasant and educated) Christian once along these lines:
Christian: ”Well, God made science anyway, He made everything.”
Me: ”You can’t just say that, though. I could say that I made science, that doesn’t make it factual.”
Christian: ”Yeah, but science isn’t always right. If you use the Bible as a guide then you can get more perfect results.”
Me: ”The bible is an ancient text that has been translated in a million different ways by self-interested humans… even if it were originally the divine word of God it certainly has been re-written by humanity.”
Christian: ”Nonetheless, it is the word of God, and you can find more answers in it if you read and interpret it properly.”
Me: ”So you’re saying that a mistranslated text that consistently contradicts itself is a more perfect tool for making scientific theory than the scientific process itself.”
Christian: ”Essentially, yes. The word of God is perfect and is His blueprint for creation.”
Me: ”You’re making my mind bleed.”
